Oftec 201

New to EDS for 2025, the Oftec 201 qualification allows operatives to install and maintain multi-stage liquid fired burners. Often found in commercial and industrial settings, but also in larger domestic properties, these burners range in size from 50kw to 50mw.

The qualification gives guidance on siting larger non-domestic oil tanks as well as covering the theoretical and practical skills required to work on these larger pieces of equipment, from nozzle size and pump pressure calculations to setting up and adjusting combustion performance on the two main types of multi stage burner encountered.

We recommend that any candidate wishing to sit this qualification first has a good understanding of domestic single stage burners (unless first-hand experience of multi-stage burners has already been gained) as the 201 qualification is designed more as an extension to the domestic qualification rather than a standalone course.

Working in partnership with UK burner manufacturer EOGB, we can now offer candidates further manufacturer's product training with one of EOGB's burner specialists, where you can hone your fault finding skills and further improve your understanding of multi-stage burners.
