The water chlorination courses are split into 2 categories, Disinfection of Water Systems and Risk Assessment of Cold and Hot Water Systems ​ 1. Disinfection of Water Systems (1 Day Duration) ​ By completing this course you will be competent to:- ​ State the main legislative and guidance documents relative to the control of Legionnaires’ disease and disinfection of watersystems. Briefly describe the basic properties of water. Explain what is meant by the term Legionnaires’ disease and Legionella bacteria. Practically assess existing installations for potential basic design risks and make recommendations to rectify the problems. Carry out the cleaning and disinfection of a cold and hot water system. ​ Why Disinfect? ​ Disinfection is a process used to remove or kill micro-organisms (organism of microscopic size, including bacteria, algae, fungi and viruses); the process can also reduce their number to a non-hazardous level. ​ 2. Risk Assessment of Cold & Hot Water Systems (1 Day Duration) ​ This course will prove you competent to:- ​ State the main legislative and guidance documents relative to the control of Legionnaires’ disease and disinfection of water systems. Briefly describe the basic properties of water. Explain what is meant by the term Legionnaires’ disease and Legionella bacteria. Explain the basic cold and hot water design principles and risks associated with Legionella. Carry out a risk assessment of a cold and hot water system in a building and make recommendations to rectify the problems. ​ This course is ideal for companies that are responsible for the water systems in residential accommodation, i.e. local authorities, housing association, hostels, caravan and camping sites and educational establishments. ​ Course Costs : ​ Risk & Treatment Assessment Package – £408.50 excluding VAT ​ Publications (Including BPEC Registration Fee) must be purchased on booking – £99.00 per course
